Islam hi-jacking Canada?
I had to check out the situation with Islam and Canada.
Not sure when this was actually taped. It shows to be uploaded June 18, 2006.
The video is 10 minutes and 50 seconds long. The last minute or so, the video is a bit poor in quality.
"The religious face of Canada is changing, and cities such as Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal are becoming hubs of Islamic culture." This came from a article I found regarding Islam and Canada. It was posted back in 2004.
According to Answers.com, as of 2001, there were 580,000 Muslims in Canaada. That is 1.8 percent of Canada's population. This is a significant increase as of 1991 with only 253,260 , .09% of the population. In 1871, there were only 13 muslims on the roster for Canada. In 1938, when the first Canadian Mosque was constructed, 700 muslims were in Canada.
According to this source, the Canadian Muslim population is very diverse being drawn from across Africa and Asia.
According to this,
Islam is the second largest religion in Canada. This was back in 2003.
Jedwab said Islam is the fastest growing religion in Canada—expected to grow to around 1.4 million followers by 2017 from 2001’s total of about 600,000. (Check out Jedwab's link. The comments are interesting)
However, Canada isn't alone regarding that aspect. In the United States, it is also reported to be the fastest growing religion. By the year 2010, the number of muslims in United States is looked to be 10 to 16 million. The conversion rate to islam in the United States is estimated to be 135,000 per year.
It would seem the Islam religion is slowly taking over, period.

The fungus seem to be spreading everywhere.

Okay, I've had just about enough of you slamming Muslims.
I teach in the east end of Toronto. A good percentage of my kids were born in places like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and India, places which contain a lot of people who have to know what direction East is.
Go ahead. Refer to my students, the kids who are in my responsibility, who put their trust in me to teach them things about the world as a "fungus" which is "spreading."
And, "womanhonorthyself," talk about my kids, and their families, as being part of "Eurabia." These hard-working people, who have uprooted their entire lives in their home country, and moved to an entirely new land, with a new language and customs and expectations and ASSHOLE HACKS LIKE YOU, in order for their children to have a better life.
Go ahead. Disparage them, because they look different and talk different and pray different.
Sit there in White Christian Middle America, ensconsced in your shroud of naivite, and talk about these people as if you knew their struggles.
Whoops, sorry. I forgot, they're "fungus." Like my student, Fauzia, who came here three months ago, who has been out of school for a few years, because it's hard to learn when your country's been immersed in conflict for the past two decades, who apologizes to me with a shy smile because her English is "not so good, Sir," but she fucking tries because she's tough as goddamn nails and has seen more with her eyes than you will ever see in your life.
But, because she wears a Hijjab, she's "spreading everywhere."
Assalam aleikum to you, too.

Sigh. Where shall I begin?
Perhaps with clarification. "Fungus" is a strong word, without the specific identification. I should have said, "The islamic facist fungus".
I note Jason, you cannot counter the facts regarding the spread of islam, rather you personalize your view on children. That is fine. I will try to take your sensitivities in mind the next time I post.
I didn't have anything in my post regarding children or women, trying to make a better life for themselves. I am all for it.
I will disregard your other antics regarding your other remarks. I will simply understand your upset.

You stated facts about Muslims. Then "womanhonorthyself" makes a disparaging quip suggesting "Eurabia," then you pile-on with "fungus." Islamic fundamentalism was not mentioned anywhere, and yet two snide remarks came out.
I may be a hippie pinko commie fag-loving liberal, but I'm not stupid.
It's the same trick Dubya pulled when trying to fool people into thinking Iraq had something to do with 9/11, by mentioning them in the same sentence over. And over. And over. And over again, in 2002-03.
"War on terror... Islamic fundamentalism... 9/11... Saddam Hussein... 9/11... war on terror... Islamic fundamentialism..."
Jesus, now I want to invade Iraq and kill some brown people and take their oil.
"The number of Muslims is growing... it comes from a diverse population... 1.4 million by 2017... taking over... Eurabia... fungus..."
Wow, now I want to invade Iraq and convert the heathens to Christianity.
I stand by my original comments, and the sentiments contained therein. If you try to paint a billion Muslims with one brush -- and many on the Right do -- then don't expect a weak "clarification" afterwards to earn you much support from me.
It's not a matter of taking my sensitivities into account before writing something in the public domain; that's an artificial veneer on your thoughts. It would be much more effective to change your perspective on this group of people, come down off your pedestal, and stop trying to whip people into a frenzy about "these people" coming into "your country."
Keep in mind the US (and Canada, too) was founded by immigrants; I suggest you read up on Keynes' "animal instincts" idea for more on that. But, trying to claim your officially-secular country as Christian and trying to keep the Muslim "fungus" out smacks of something Saudi Arabia might try to pull, and I won't stand for it.
Assalam aleikum.

1. She released a press statement? Is that what she did? The article is unclear on what she actually did.
2. If 135,000 people in the US convert to Islam... hmm... in just 2220 short years, the entire population of the US will be Muslim. At the rate TomKat is spitting out kids, I think the US has a better shot at turning predominantly Scientologist than it does Muslim.
2a. And besides, who "estimated" this conversion rate... Nancy Grace? Bill O'Reilly? Ann Coulter?
3. Most of the increase in Canada's Muslim population is due to immigration from "those" parts of the world. If you looked at the 1840s, most of the increase in English-speaking Canada's Roman Catholic population was from an influx of Irish immigrants, not because the British who were already here suddenly re-embraced the Pope.
4. Why would you care if Islam "took over," anyway? Who says Christianity is the "right" way? I'd be tickled pink if the word "God" got taken out of O Canada and the Pledge of Allegiance (the latter originally was "God"-free until those red commies put the scare in the Buck Turgidson-types in the '50s).
4a. We don't have a Pledge of Allegiance in Canada, for the record.
